Head of Legal for the United States at Shell Oil Company
Hector Pineda was appointed Shell Oil Company’s Head of Legal for the United States in 2016. He is accountable for consulting with the US legal management team on country-wide legal and reputational issues, consulting with Shell Oil’s US Country Chair and senior executive team, and creating a sense of community and teamwork for all US based legal staff. Hector is also the Associate General Counsel – Downstream for the US, Central & South America. In his nearly 25 years with Shell’s legal department, he has supported corporate, upstream and downstream business segments in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. Outside of Shell, Hector serves as Chairman of the Board of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and was honored as HHCC’s Hispanic Male Executive of the Year in 2013. He also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for College of Humanities & Social Sciences for Louisiana State University and on the National Board of the LSU Foundation. Hector is an inaugural member of Tulane Law School’s National Advisory Board for its Center for Energy Law. He has formerly served as a Director of the Texas Lyceum and Healthcare for the Homeless – Houston and as Executive Committee Vice Chair for the Institute for Energy Law. Hector is a native of New Orleans and obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and law degree from Tulane University Law School.
